I dislike the version of ‘ikigai’ portrayed by some western books where it claims money is a key part of it. The people who trained me did it for free with only a small fee for the upkeep of the dojo. They did it because they loved it and felt seeking money would change the way they acted. They all had day jobs or were retired but you’ll never find a more passionate group of instructors. Just something to bear in mind so you don’t miss your ‘ikigai’!
